Technical overview for FW05 front plate

The graphite front A-arms plate is a direct-fit aftermarket upgrade for KYOSHO FW05-R and FW05RR platforms, intended to replace the OEM front suspension arm mounting surface with a higher modulus graphite panel. It functions as a structural component that modifies steering input transmission and front suspension compliance while maintaining the original suspension geometry.

Material choice and tuning role are central: graphite reduces mass relative to many plastics and provides a higher stiffness-to-weight ratio, improving flex control at the front end. This characteristic helps reduce unwanted deflection under lateral load and delivers a crisper steering response for 1/10-scale on-road tuning work.

Installation follows standard chassis service procedures: remove the bodyshell, disassemble access points to the front suspension, extract the factory A-arm mounting plate or brace, and install the graphite plate using the chassis original screw positions. Confirm parallel A-arm positions and steering link clearances before final torqueing, then perform controlled test runs to gather handling data.

From a setup methodology perspective, introduce the plate as a single variable and pair it with incremental adjustments to front damper rates and anti-roll characteristics. This approach isolates the plate's impact on roll centre behaviour, camber recovery and turn-in characteristics without confounding multiple simultaneous changes.

Ensure factory screw threads are clean and undamaged, verify flat seating of the plate, and confirm there is no interference with steering link travel. Replace any stripped fasteners prior to installation.
Conduct baseline laps with the original setup, install the plate, then make single-step changes to front damping or anti-roll and record handling differences. Use consistent test conditions to evaluate lap time and driver feedback.
Graphite provides stiffness and light weight but has different failure modes to plastic. Inspect mounting holes and edges after impacts, and avoid over-torquing which can introduce stress concentrations.
