Technical overview: graphite steering plate

The graphite steering plate is an aftermarket tuning component for the Tamiya M05 chassis, offered as model M05-25/WO. Engineered to replace the OEM steering plate, the graphite design raises rigidity at the steering mount to reduce flex and improve the consistency of steering inputs under load.

Installation is a direct replacement on M05 variants that retain the standard steering geometry. Remove the stock plate, transfer linkage and fasteners to the graphite unit, then verify steering neutral and alignment. This component is intended for chassis setup and incremental performance tuning on 1/10 on-road vehicles.

Performance notes: the stiffer plate changes the distribution of steering loads through the mount, which can alter perceived steering sensitivity and transient behaviour. Reassess toe and Ackermann after fitting to optimise handling. This part is a mechanical refinement and does not replace electronics or servos.
