Technical notes on Derlin 4-hole pistons

These pistons are CNC-quality Derlin components with a four-port pattern sized for standard TAMIYA M06 shock cartridges. Derlin provides low static friction and stable surface finish, resulting in predictable interaction with silicone shock oils and minimal stiction during shaft travel.

Designed for direct replacement in M06-style shock bodies, installation follows conventional shock service procedures: dismantle the damper, remove old pistons and springs, fit the Derlin pistons ensuring correct orientation, then rebuild using the original oil and seals. Accurate piston alignment is important when matching front and rear damping characteristics.

Functionally, the four holes regulate oil passage on compression and rebound to tune mid-range damping. These pistons are suitable for tuners who require consistent flow rates across a set of shocks to achieve repeatable damping curves when changing oil viscosity or spring rates.
